Special Inspections for Smoke Control Systems
The purpose of the Special Inspection for the smoke control system is to ensure the smoke control systems are operating in accordance with the approved design. Smoke control systems are inspected in accordance with IFC 909.3, 909.10 and Chapter 8 of NFPA 92.
Design of Smoke Control Systems
The purpose of designing of a smoke control system is to maintain a tenable environment within the smoke zone during a fire so that occupants can evacuate safely. This includes keeping the amount of smoke to a safe level for factors like visibility and air quality. The design is accomplished through various means such as exhaust fans removing smoke from the building.
